ILMINSTER NEWS: Janet can still Take That and Party – even without Gary Barlow

TAKE THAT star Gary Barlow may not have attended the party - but that failed to stop Janet Morton’s 40th birthday celebrations from being a night to remember.

Janet had been hoping that the Take That singer would be the surprise guest at her birthday bash earlier this month, but it was not to be.ILMINSTER NEWS: Janet can still Take That and Party – even without Gary Barlow Photo 1

The former X Factor judge announced on Twitter he would perform at fans’ milestone birthday party's in 2015 as long as they impressed him on social media with a campaign to get him to their party.

Janet enlisted an army of friends around the globe to send nearly 250 photos to Gary Barlow by tweeting @GaryBarlow with the hashtag #getgaryto janets40th along with her own Twitter name of @TTandPrty.

But despite a super campaign – Gary Barlow failed to attend Janet’s party last Saturday (April 9, 2016) which had an 80s theme.ILMINSTER NEWS: Janet can still Take That and Party – even without Gary Barlow Photo 2

“It would’ve been so lovely if Gary had come to the party,” said Janet. “But I wasn’t really expecting him to turn up and we all had so much fun anyway, it wasn’t a disaster. It wasn’t like we were sitting around waiting for him.”

Although he may not have been there in person – he was certainly there at the party in the form of a life-size cardboard cut-out, Gary Barlow masks and cakes.

But there was still plenty to celebrate for a number of people at the party on the evening of the Grand National horse race which was won by Rule the World – which, coincidentally, was the name of a Take That record released back in 2007.

“With all the Gary Barlow stuff going on a lot of my friends bet on Rule the World to win the Grand National as they saw it as a bit of a lucky omen,” said Janet. “I even placed a bet on it at 50-1 – so I was well happy.”

Janet, who previously worked at Swanmead School in Ilminster but is currently teaching at Manor Court Primary School in Chard, is still hoping that Gary Barlow might call in to surprise her during her 40th year.
