ILMINSTER AREA NEWS: Barn fire at Dowlish Wake
FIREFIGHTERS were called out this morning (Friday, April 1, 2016) to deal with a barn fire at Dowlish Wake.
The alarm was raised at just after 8.20am to the incident at Oxenford Lane and fire engines from Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster were mobilised along with a water carrier from Yeovil.
Firefighters confirmed that the five-bay barn contained straw, but the fire was only in one bay.
“Crews put the fire out and confirmed the cause as accidental,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. “Damage was confined to the end bay and its contents. Duty of care was left with the farmer.”
