ILMINSTER NEWS: Flying off to Barcelona after winning flights in 1610 competition

ILMINSTER couple Nichola and Jason Hockey have scooped flight tickets to Barcelona after winning a competition organised by leisure provider 1610.
The couple, who are members of the Cresta Leisure Centre in Chard, won the tickets in a special competition to coincide with the opening of 1610’s new £500,000 health and fitness centre in Chard at Jarman Way.
The idea of having plane tickets as first prize in the draw was to honour Chard’s history as the home of powered flight.
The leisure trust currently manages Cresta Leisure Centre on a shared school site with Holyrood Academy but membership has tripled in five years and the limited size of the Zembard Lane site has led to 1610 developing new and larger premises at Jarman Way.
The new centre will open to the general public on Monday (April 4, 2016) while current 1610 members can go and get a sneak preview this week.
