ILMINSTER NEWS: Football club given fireworks go-ahead

ILMINSTER Town Football Club has been given permission to turn last November’s fireworks display into an annual event.
The club held a fireworks display and bonfire party last year at Britten’s Field and organisers have gained the backing of Ilminster Town Council – in principle – to make it a yearly event subject to a 12-monthly review.
Permission has been granted for the club to hold a fireworks display and bonfire later this year on the nearest Sunday to Guy Fawkes Night (November 5) which will be Sunday, November 6, 2016.
Last year’s event – the first of its kind to be held by the football club – was a big success with hundreds of people attending despite having to brave the bad weather.
