BOXING: Council packs a punch with grant support
MEMBERS of the Chard and Ilminster District Amateur Boxing Club have been celebrating after receiving a £1,000 grant.
Club members went along to receive the cheque from the Mayor of Chard, Cllr Dave Bulmer, on behalf of Chard Town Council at the council’s meeting on Monday (February 15, 2016).
The money will go towards helping to develop the club’s youth engagement project which aims to encourage more children and young adults to the club as well as train two further coaches and buy more training equipment.
A club spokesman said: “It’s great to be recognised and we would like to thank the town council for this very generous grant.”
