SOMERSET NEWS: Fireworks worth £15k stolen in shop raid

A SHOP owner who specialises in fireworks has put out an appeal for information after burglars broke into his premises and stole virtually all of his stock.
With November 5 just around the corner, it was going to be a very busy few days for Rocketman Fireworks in Taunton.
But now Craig Cox, of Rocketman Fireworks, has been left devastated after raiders came prepared and made off with 80 per cent of the stock - worth around £15,000 - which was stored at the premises in East Reach overnight Friday-Saturday (October 27-28, 2017).
“By the looks of it we have lost most of our stock,” said Craig. “They came armed with crowbars because they’ve completely destroyed two doors and frames in order to gain access to the fireworks store room.
“It’s just so upsetting as we’d obviously stocked up for the season.”
Craig is now urging people to be wary of anyone offering them cheap fireworks for sale.
“If anybody approaches you with cheap fireworks please call the police or call our shop and let us know,” he said. “We want to catch the people who have done this. I'm hoping someone will know something about this and come forward."
The intruders broke in at the rear of the premises.
Anyone with information please call police on 101 or Rocketman Fireworks on 01823-253333.
