ILMINSTER NEWS: Lorry gets stuck at Bay Hill

A LORRY has got stuck on the outskirts of Ilminster on Monday (September 4, 2017) morning while trying to make an extremely difficult left-hand turn manoeuvre.
The vehicle was travelling from Whitelackington direction on the main B3168 into Ilminster when it went to turn left from Bay Hill into Townsend – a very sharp turn which is often difficult for car drivers, let alone truckers.
The road has been blocked, although police are letting through single traffic.
A spokesman for the Save Shudrick Valley Group, which fought against a large housing development in that area, said: “We pointed out the problems with this dangerous junction many times, but were told by the highways department that there is not a problem and it could be sorted out with extra signage.
“It is clear that this junction is completely unsuitable for further traffic especially HGVs.”
