ILMINSTER NEWS: Wine students taste success

THE bubbly was popped open in Ilminster as students celebrated passing their latest qualification set by the Wine & Spirit Educational Trust.
The WSET Level 2 explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown.
A number of students from the Ilminster area – under the wing of expert wine tutor Linda Piggott-Vijeh – learnt about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology.
A basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs was also provided.
Upon successful completion of the course the students received a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and are now able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
The five successful students to pass the WSET Level 2 certificate were William Butt, Drew Belobaba, Faith Bellamy, Rhys Faulkner and Alex Pastrav.
A presentation ceremony, plus the obligatory glass of bubbly, was held at the Ilminster Bookshop in Silver Street last month.
Tutor Linda said she would like to congratulate all of her students on successfully completing the course.
