CRICKET: Explosive summer T20 action at Ilminster

THE ever popular Natwest T20 Blast Cricket returns to Ilminster in June as the town’s Under 19s take part in the national competition.
The fast paced family friendly cricket will bring all the excitement and atmosphere as the senior game.
This includes the team wearing coloured kit and using a pink ball. Off the pitch there will be lots for the supporters to do as the BBQ gets fired up, the bouncy castle gets inflated and the bar gets opened.
This obviously goes alongside the Live DJ providing music throughout as well as appropriate songs for those wickets and boundaries - as well as bad umpiring decisions, in the unlikely event there of there being some!
The games will in traditional style involve player interviews and Man Of the Match presentations.
The following fixtures are all home at Ilminster Recreation Ground in Canal Way with play starting at 6.30pm.
Friday, June 16: Ilminster v Yeovil; Friday, July 14: Ilminster v Crewkerne; Friday, July 28: Ilminster v North Perrott.
ECB All Stars training will run alongside these matches. The All Stars training for five to eight-year-olds got underway a few weeks ago.
An Ilminster Cricket Club spokesman said: “The initiative from the ECB to get youngsters in to cricket started a few weeks ago and has been a roaring success.
“More than 20 youngsters take to the Recreation Ground with the coaches in their very own personalised kit, to learn both social and technical skills.
“It runs for ten weeks and the opportunity on the dates above for the youngsters to witness action-packed 20-over cricket is one not to be missed.”
