FOOTBALL: Brad smashes a four-minute hat-trick

FORMER Ilminster Town player Bradley Miles hit a stunning hat-trick in just four minutes on Saturday (February 11, 2017) as he helped his team to a comfortable 5-1 win in the Division One of the Toolstation Western League.
Since Miles signed for Ilminster’s near-neighbours Chard Town in early October 2016 he has grown quietly into an influential midfield role with The Robins, had until the weekend had never found the net himself.
But in a blistering few minutes early in Chard’s game against Malmesbury he quickly changed that statistic on Saturday by blasting a fine hat-trick to earn himself the Man of the Match award.
Malmesbury, who have had their problems of late and slid down to mid table, were never able to get back into the game.
It all began in the 11th minute at Chard’s Zembard Lane ground when Miles and Scott Martin played a neat exchange of passes before Miles firmly slotted the ball into the corner of the net. In the next attack only a minute later Dave Duarte executed a low cross which found Miles charging forward to ram the ball past the Malmesbury keeper.
All of two minutes elapsed for the third goal when the ball fell into the path of the goalscorer and without hesitation he dispatched the ball without fuss for his hat-trick.
Chard’s other goals were netted by Stephen Friend and Jack Dicker.
