ILMINSTER NEWS: Cricket club thanks people for continued support

A FUNDRAISING night at the Shrubbery Hotel in Ilminster on Saturday (February 4, 2017) helped to raise £650 for Ilminster Cricket Club.
The money will go towards the continuing renovation works at The Shed – Ilminster CC’s bar and social headquarters on the Recreation Ground in Canal Way – which has been renamed Ricer’s Shed in memory of club legend Tony Rice who died last year.
Club chairman Paul Knight, speaking on social media, said: “I would like to thank all the people that came to the Shrubbery Hotel on Saturday night to support Ricer’s Shed project.
“A big thank you to all the usual suspects that helped with the draw and taking ticket money on the door.
“Thank you also to Ashley Preece and the team at the Shrubbery for allowing us to use the venue for the event.”
Live music was provided by Eat The Rich, a great band from Torquay.
“Delighted to say that we raised £650,” added the club chairman. “In all honesty even if we’d made £50 it would have been worth it as it was nice just to see so many people enjoying themselves.
“Once again thanks to everyone who came along and here’s looking forward to a good summer and seeing people all down at Ricer’s Shed.”
