ILMINSTER NEWS: Senior Citizens Lunch is another community success

MORE than 120 of Ilminster’s senior citizens attended the lunch at the Shrubbery Hotel on Saturday (January 7, 2017) and enjoyed a lovely meal, great company, super entertainment and, dare we say, a few drinks!
Donations to help fund the annual community event were made Ilminster’s Rotary Club, Lions Club, Nyanza Lodge of Freemasons, and Marshall Herbert who brings his fair to town each year.
Collection boxes for individuals to donate money towards the lunch had been placed in Hannah May, Ilminster Hardware, Co-op Ilminster, Royal Oak Ilminster, Horton Post Office, Spar Texaco Garage, E&S Computers and Ilminster Warehouse and organisers would like to thank them for their support.
Thanks also go to the staff at the Shrubbery Hotel, Broomhead and Saul, all helpers on the day, Stuart and Vaughan Lee House for the minibus, Tesco and the family of Mrs Voice for the draw prizes, Helen Gilzean for organising the transport, and Maria Moore.
While there is a special thank you to Ilminster’s well-known Elvis tribute act Barry Paull who delighted the diners with the after-lunch entertainment.
The lunch was given a civic seal of approval as the Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Val Keitch, was among the diners.
