SOMERSET NEWS: Cyclists urged to think safety

POLICE are urging cyclists to make sure they can be seen by other road users on unlit rural roads in Somerset.
Officers have received a number of reports of near misses where motorists have had to take last-second action to avoid hitting cyclists who have no lights or reflective clothing.
A police spokesman, in an appeal to cyclists, said: “Make sure you can be seen and are wearing suitable clothing preferably reflective light coloured clothing and have lights on the front and rear of your bike.”
