SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Two people killed in crash on A303

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A303 near Buckland St Mary this afternoon (Monday, October 31, 2016).
The incident involving a car and a van happened at about 1pm.
A police spokesman said: “Sadly two people have died. The road remains closed pending an investigation by collision investigators.”
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Anyone who was in the area who has information to help police enquiries is asked to call 101 and speak to the collision investigation unit, quoting log 0460 of Monday, October 31.
A police statement was issued at just before 3.45pm today (Monday, October 31, 2106) and said that as next of kind had not yet been notified, they were not providing further information on those who have died.
A third person is understood to have been taken to hospital.
Emergency services including air ambulances descended on the scene of the incident which is in the Chard and Ilminster area.
