ILMINSTER NEWS: Bathroom heater sparks 999 fire call-out

FIREFIGHTERS were called out last night (Monday, October 24, 2016) to deal with a fire at a home in Ilminster.

Three fire engines from Ilminster and Chard were mobilised at just after 7pm to the incident in Bay Hill.

The Fire Service had been called by the occupants of the property to say there was a heater on fire in the bathroom and the home was filled with smoke.

The firefighters discovered that although the home was filled with smoke, the fire was actually out by the time they had arrived.

They ventilated the property and made the area safe.

“The fire started accidentally and caused minimal damage to the bathroom only and there were no casualties,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
