ILMINSTER NEWS: Fire at Daido Industrial Bearings

FIREFIGHTERS had to be decontaminated after dealing with a fire at Daido Industrial Bearings in Ilminster.
The alarm was raised at just before 1.45pm on Tuesday (October 18, 2016) to reports of a fire within an extractor unit at the factory in Winterhay Lane.
One fire engine from Ilminster and two from Chard were called out and crews got to work to deal with the situation.
“A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots and a gas monitor to check safety levels within the premises,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
“The environmental protection unit from Taunton was sent to assist with the precautionary decontamination of six firefighters.”
