FOOTBALL: Chard Town holds official Groundhoppers Day at Zembard Lane

CHARD Town FC is inviting all football fans and enthusiasts to its official Groundhoppers Day for the forthcoming local derby clash with newly-promoted Bishops Lydeard.
The game takes place at 11am on Sunday, October 9, 2016, with an 11am kick-off and will be Chard’s first-ever Toolstation Western League fixture to be held on a Sunday.
Groundhopping is a hobby that involves “hoppers” attending football matches at as many different stadiums or grounds as possible.
A club spokesman said: “The match promises to be an enjoyable and competitive affair on the infamous Zembard Lane slope.
“There will be a barbecue and bar refreshments available on the day and limited Chard Town FC merchandise will also be available to purchase.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the Ground Hoppers – but also many members of the local community to ensure Chard’s biggest event for many years is a success.”
