SOMERSET NEWS: Bad crash on A358

EMERGENCY services were called out this morning (Thursday, August 25, 2016) following a crash on the A358 between Ilminster and Taunton.
The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call for support from the police at just before 7am to the incident at Hatch Beauchamp.
Two fire engines from Taunton and one from Bridgwater attended, along with a rescue tender, and on arrival they found the crash involved a car and a heavy goods vehicle. A man was trapped inside the car.
Firefighters worked quickly with hydraulic cutting equipment to release the man from the vehicle who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
“Crews made the vehicles and scene safe and have left duty of care with the police,” said a Fire Service spokesman.
The A358 has been closed between Taunton and Ilminster because of the crash and has led to heavy traffic congestion in that area with diversions in place.
