ILMINSTER NEWS: Schoolboy raising money for air ambulance – just weeks after they tried to save his dad’s life

AN eight-year-old schoolboy has decided to have his lovely head of hair shaved off to raise money for charity – in memory of his dad who was killed as a result of a car accident just two months ago.

Malachi Hall, of Greenfylde First School in Ilminster, wants to raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance who helped his dad immediately after the accident with paramedics valiantly working to get his heart starting again and then airlifting him to hospital.ILMINSTER NEWS: Schoolboy raising money for air ambulance – just weeks after they tried to save his dad’s life

Husband and father-of-three Paul Hall died following the two-vehicle crash on the B3168 near Seavington St Michael, on the outskirts of Ilminster, which happened at around 7.45am on Monday, April 25, 2016.

Mr Hall was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by air ambulance, but sadly died as a result of the injuries he had sustained.

But his brave son Malachi wants to do something to support the people who tried to save his dad’s life and so he is planning on shaving off his hair to raise money for the air ambulance – even though mum Heather says it won’t be easy for him.

“Malachi is very attached to his hair as many people who know him will know,” she said.

But Heather added: “The air ambulance paramedics played a massive part in helping to try and save Paul’s life and although this was unable to be done, they did everything they could.

“After getting his heart beating after a long time of working on him following the accident they airlifted him to Bristol where I was taken and able to spend the last moments of his life with him. For this I will be eternally grateful to them and many others who were a part of that tragic day

“Malachi would like to raise as much money as he possibly can for these people.”

A Just Giving website page has been set up at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Heather-Hall3?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_content=Heather-Hall3&utm_campaign=pfp-share for people wanting to donate on-line, while it is expected that sponsorship forms will be available in various shops in Ilminster for those wanting to pledge their support.

The big shave day has not yet been officially confirmed, but it is highly likely that it will take place on Monday, July 25, 2016.

Heather said: “Please, please, please dig deep and help Malachi raise as much as possible for this amazing charity.”

Heather told the Ilminster Press that she would like to thank everyone at Greenfylde First School for the support it has given the family in the past two months following the tragic death of Mr Hall.
