ILMINSTER NEWS: Sophie Storey resigns as a town councillor

A MEMBER of Ilminster Town Council has handed in her resignation after three years as a councillor.
Sophie Storey made the decision to resign from the council last night (Tuesday, May 10, 2016) due to “mounting frustrations” on a number of current issues within the authority.
“I have decided to stand down after three years on the council,” she said. “I feel I have worked hard for the people of Ilminster and will continue to do so, but not as a councillor.
“Due to a number of reasons I feel I have no pride in being part of the new town council which was formed at last May’s local election.
“I would like to stress my decision has no reflection whatsoever on the town council staff who work very hard.”
It is understood that the deputy town clerk to the council, Sally Whitefield, has also handed in her resignation.
