ILMINSTER NEWS: Everyone invited to learn more about their community

THE Ilminster Annual Community Assembly – previously known as the Annual Town Meeting – will take place later this month.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster at 7.30pm.
This year the meeting will expand the community involvement part of the meeting and local community groups have been invited to give a short presentation about their activities.
The Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Rose Neave, said: “The Annual Assembly is an occasion to celebrate the contributions of local people and promote local activities.
“As well as making the Ilminster Citizen award at the meeting, I have invited local organisations to come and give a short presentation about their recent activities and future plans.
“Ilminster has a lot going on and I would like more people to know about what happens in the town so that they have the opportunity to get involved.”
The Ilminster Town Council consultation plan for the play area at the Wharf Lane Recreation Ground on Canal Way will be available at the meeting to give attendees the chance to comment and make suggestions.
The meeting has a public question time session and any elector wishing to ask a question is asked to send it to the town council at least 48 hours before the meeting as this will assist in providing a response on the night.
