ILMINSTER NEWS: Lucky escape for couple and their two young daughters

AN ILMINSTER family are calling it a miracle that they escaped without injury after being involved in a three-vehicle smash on the outskirts of Cardiff.
Daniel Haines and his wife Tracy and their two young daughters, Leela, aged 21 months, and Clara, aged just four months old, were in their BMW and had stopped at some traffic lights when another car was in collision with them which then sent them into the back of another car.
“We feel very very lucky,” said Daniel, 28. “The car can easily be replaced, but the main thing is that we are all ok apart from a few aches, pains, bumps and bruises.”
Emergency services were called to the A4232 southbound at Culverhouse Cross near Cardiff at just before 12.15pm yesterday (Saturday, April 2, 2016).
While the Haines family was uninjured in the incident, a woman had to be cut free from her car by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and was taken to hospital with a broken leg.
A Fire Service spokesman said that nine people in total had been involved in the incident and that other than the woman with the broken leg there were no other significant injuries.
Daniel said he believed that he and his family were lucky to get out unscathed due to the fact that they were in a BMW.
“People can say what they like about BMWs and their drivers, but yesterday proved to me that it is exactly the type of car I want for me and my family,” he said. “Not many cars can withstand being in a collision like that when stationary and we all walked away, apart from Clara who is yet to walk anywhere!”
