ILMINSTER NEWS: Neighbourhood Watch plans for the town?

POLICE are looking at setting up a new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in Ilminster due to recent problems in the town.
There have been problems with criminal damage in the town and police have increased their evening patrols and asking anyone with any information about incidents to call 101 or speak to the local officers.
“We are currently looking at setting up a new Neighbourhood Watch scheme in the area,” said a spokesman on the police’s community webpage.
Police have also received a number of reports about problems being caused by people boozing in the streets which have led anti-social behaviour issues in the town.
The police have reported that they and other agencies are closely monitoring the problems.
During the past month the police have reported that there have been five assaults in Ilminster during the past month.
PC Andy Stuart told members of Ilminster Town Council on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, that there had also been five counts of harassment during that time with three of which being domestic-related.
He reported that there had been three thefts from shops and businesses, three domestic incidents and three public order offences.
Also reported during the past month had been two cases of criminal damage in the town, plus one drugs offence of cultivation.

A police spokesman added: “Due to recent criminal damage that has occurred in the town, we have increased our evening patrols and are asking anyone with any information to call 101 or speak to the local officers.”
