SOMERSET NEWS: Help! A donkey has fallen in my kitchen!

FIREFIGHTERS must have been thinking it might have been a wind-up when they were called out to help a donkey which had wandered into a house and fallen over in the kitchen.
One fire engine from Yeovil and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater were called out on Friday (October 21, 2016) at just after 12.30pm to the problem in Tintinhull, near Yeovil.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “This was a very rare call out. We had a call to say the occupier’s donkey had followed her into the kitchen and then fallen.
“The occupier was unable to help the donkey up and after calling her vet she was advised to call us at the Fire Service.
“After liaising with an animal rescue tactical advisor they agreed to an attendance due to the potential risk to the owner and the donkey if he got distressed.
“The donkey, known as Troy, had fallen on his side in the kitchen and was trapped causing him distress.”
Firefighters used salvage sheets and a small length of hose to slide Troy, aged 38, from the kitchen to a place of safety where one being checked by the vet, he was able to return to his companion, 32-year-old Rosie, in the garden.”
