SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Firefighters battle barn fire

FIREFIGHTERS have been battling a barn fire throughout the night near South Petherton.
The Fire Control received several calls reporting a barn fire at East Lambrook from around 11pm last night (Sunday, August 14, 2016).
Fire engines from Martock, Ilminster and Yeovil were mobilised together with the water bowser from Yeovil.
Officers confirmed one barn to be well alight when they arrived at the scene and got to work quickly.
The barn – measuring 35m x 8m – contained around 100 tonnes of hay and straw.
By 1am this morning (Monday, August 15, 2016) the incident began to be scaled back with firefighters from Chard and Crewkerne carrying out a watching brief on the situation.
