CARNIVAL: Donate the old £1 coins to Ilminster Carnival

ILMINSTER Carnival organisers are hoping that people will donate their old £1 coins to the collection as the procession weaves its way through the town.

The old £1 coins go out of circulation on October 15, 2017, and will become worthless so people need to use them.

Now Carnival officials have suggested that people put them in the collection buckets when the Children’s Carnival takes place on Saturday, September 30, 2017, and the main Ilminster Carnival parade on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

“Don’t miss out on being able to use the old coins before the deadline date by putting your old £1 coins into one of our collecting buckets or vehicles,” said an Ilminster Carnival official.

Needless to say, however, is that the organisers would love coins or notes of any amount to be donated to help safeguard Ilminster Carnival for years to come.

The Carnival spokesman added: “Ilminster Carnival would be grateful for any £1 coins, old or new, or any other coins.

“Please help us to raise as much money as possible this year to secure the future of Ilminster Carnival.”
