A FAMILY-RUN business based on the outskirts of Ilminster which specialises in kitchens and bathrooms is celebrating after two of its staff recently successfully completed carpentry qualifications with the Construction Industry Training Board.

Dan Brunt and Kieran Rendall have been with Grinters since 2014 as carpentry apprentices and have been developing their skills over the past two years beginning at Somerset College in Taunton and then latterly at Bridgwater College.

Kieran has gained a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in wood occupations for site carpentry and a merit in his Level 2 Diploma for site carpentry.

Dan has also gained a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in wood occupations for site carpentry and a distinction in his Level 2 Diploma for site carpentry.

The duo were presented with their certificates at Grinters headquarters at Broadway by partners James Champion and Geoff Dark who first set-up the business back in 2007.

“We’d like to congratulate Dan and Kieran on gaining their qualifications,” said James and Geoff, who are cousins. “They’ve worked really hard and we’re delighted for them.”

Grinters have gradually increased their range of services from kitchens and bathrooms to include building, carpentry and plumbing and they are looking forward to their tenth anniversary next year.

The name Grinters is the joint family name for James and Geoff and very well known in their home town of Ilminster for the Grinters Bakery.
